This is part two of remembering Belonging, the BBC Wales drama that was set in the fictional town of Bryncoed located in south east Wales. For a brief synopsis of the series you can read the first part of the article here and watch The Belonging Story video.
Because there is such little information about Belonging on the internet, I’ve decided to just give a quick synopsis of the ‘reunion’ episode, which aired several months after the final episode in the series was shown.
“Coming Home” was considered a special episode to celebrate ten years of Belonging. Eve Myles had starred in it from the very beginning, which is really quite a feat for an actress.
Taken from the BBC website is the episode description:
Steve and Ruth return to Bryncoed, and Hannah drops a bombshell that means life for the Lewises will never be the same again. Things quickly go from bad to worse, and Ruth must fight to hold her family together, while a furious Steve struggles to stop his daughter making the biggest mistake of her life.
I had planned to add just a few clips of Eve from this episode, but later decided to upload the whole thing to YouTube for everyone to enjoy. I also did this in hopes that it will get more people to sign the ongoing DVD petition. It’s been nearly three years since the series ended and the BBC are just sitting on it. Please sign the petition for the chance to get this released on DVD or made available via Amazon digital download or another service.
Here is the episode in its entirety.
In the looks department there is some resemblance to Gwen from Torchwood. But you can tell that Ceri is a very different character as she comes off more warm and inviting most of the time. The scene where she’s drunk on the poker table shows a much more playful and sexy personality that we hardly ever get to see with Gwen. It just goes to prove that Eve is a very diverse and highly talented actress.
To add a bit more to this article, there’s a really cute and funny Q&A video of Eve Myles on the Belonging website, but I’ve made it available here for convenience. It really shows Eve’s down-to-earth personality and great sense of humor. The ending is hilarious! 🙂
Here’s a fan-made video titled “Better In Time” and it features various clips of Eve Myles in Belonging, Torchwood and Doctor Who.
This user apparently has some episodes of the show, so if you’re desperate you might want to contact them and see if they’re willing to upload them somewhere. Let us know if you get lucky.
Why can’t I watch more of ‘Belonging’?
I think the reason Belonging episodes are so hard to find online is because it wasn’t seen by many people outside of Wales and file sharing was not as popular up until a few years ago. The BBC really needs to release this series on DVD or put them out in syndication. There may be a limited audience for it, but letting it sit in a film vault somewhere doesn’t make a lot of sense considering how popular Eve Myles has become.
For those that didn’t keep up on this show, one of the younger actors from Belonging was found hanged just two days after the series ended. According to the police report, the body of Stephanie Parker, 22, was found on open ground near Pontypridd. Stephanie had played the role of Stacey Weaver.
A friend of hers put up a remembrance video on YouTube.

That’s it, folks. I know it took a while, but I was hoping to find more information and video content before working on part two. Had I lived in Wales and known more about this series you’d probably be a lot happier for sure.
If you are a fan or worked on the show, please feel free to add any comments. I would love to read them.
