Baker Boys, a new Welsh drama, will be airing on Sunday 23 Jan at 9pm on BBC One (Wales only). Eve Myles stars as Sarah in this three-part series that charts the lives of a tight-knit community in a small South Wales town after it is hit by the economic downturn.
The BBC One website lists the description of episode one:
Valley Bara bakery lies at the heart of a small South Wales town. Generations have worked, skived, flirted, fought and earned an honest living there. But then the recession bites, and the bakery workers find themselves unemployed overnight.
With their lives in turmoil, and facing a future on the dole, it looks like the beginning of the end for this close-knit community. Then an outrageous idea from local joker and wide boy Owen opens up a world of possibilities and a chance to find out if we really are all in this together.
The first of three contemporary, poignant and heart-warming episodes rooted in the reality of a small valley town as the current economic crisis strikes at the heart of its community. Starring the best of Welsh talent, The Baker Boys brings colourful, charismatic and real characters to the screen.
Note that the title has changed from The Fabulous Baker Boys to just Baker Boys.
