Discussion on actor John Barrowman.

Tonight's the Night, S2!

Postby jackngwen4eva » 16 Mar 2010, 21:13

TTN has officially been commissioned for a new series, and there's also a new press release.

Just thought I'd mention that this is probably testiment to madd's continual lobbying for John to do something up in Scotland. So here you go, madd, he's doing a whole series in Glasgow!

From the site:

Press release from the BBC:

Tonight's The Night, hosted by John Barrowman, has been re-commissioned. The show, which will be produced in Scotland this summer, will be tied to the National Lottery and include the live draws.

Following a successful first series, the show, which sets out to make dreams come true, will return to BBC One on Saturday nights. It will feature a series of surprises for unsuspecting and deserving members of the public, all of whom will have the chance to give the performance of a lifetime. They could find themselves performing to the nation with their pop star idol, on stage with the cast of their favourite musical or locked in a head to head race with their Formula One hero. Now also featuring the live Lotto, Dream Number and Thunderball Saturday draws, it's the show that really can make dreams a reality.

John Barrowman said: "I am just thrilled that Tonight's The Night is coming back to Saturday nights on BBC One. Once again I can't wait to make the nation's performance dreams come true."

Alan Tyler, Executive Editor for Entertainment, said: “We're delighted that Tonight's the Night will be produced by BBC Scotland this summer. John has worked in the Pacific Quay studio before and we are confident that his enthusiasm for the show and for a return to Glasgow will light up the screen".

The show is a co-production between BBC Vision’s in-house entertainment department and Barrowman Barker Productions, and will be executive produced by Louise Rainbow. The show was commissioned by BBC One Controller, Jay Hunt, Controller of Entertainment, Mark Linsey and Executive Editor for Entertainment, Alan Tyler.

I agree with madd! Gotta love the shiny suit! It's a bit Graham Norton-esque, but as long as TTN's not on at the same time as Over The Rainbow, then it's OK! Like madd said, you don't see many celebs publicly helping people nowadays.
