Here’s an excellent and lengthy interview with Eve from SFX Magazine. Eve discusses everything from Torchwood series 4 to her…ummm, “freckled ass.” =)

The Interview

“Don’t worry, there’s not a gimp locked up in there,” reassures Eve Myles – Torchwood’s heroic Gwen Cooper. There’s some disturbing heavy breathing emanating from behind a door in her beautiful Cardiff home. Nor is it an angry, boiler-suited Weevil. In fact it’s Honeysuckle, Eve’s pet beagle, who bounds out and welcomes your intrepid reporter with a big, wet doggy snog. Phew, for a minute there I was worried…

SFX is here to film Eve’s acceptance speech for the reader awards, where she’s been voted science fiction’s Best Actress, fending off some heavyweight competition from the likes of Cate Blanchett and Battlestar Galactica’s Mary McDonnell. Currently taking time out with her 12-week-old daughter Matilda, Eve has also kindly agreed to a quick natter about her character and the show that’s brought her fame on both sides of the Atlantic.

Let’s start with the award. Best Actress, as voted for by SFX readers…

It’s lovely isn’t it? When you win an award and it’s from the readers, that’s much nicer than a panel of people who think they know about acting or drama, and sometimes don’t. But the readers, the viewers – those are the people who are important. Those are the people we’re making it for. It’s been a lovely pick-me-up.

You beat some tough competition: Cate Blanchett, Anna Friel, Megan Fox amongst others.

Did I? No way! NO WAY! Oh my god, ask me again! I’m ecstatic! That really warms my heart. Brilliant! Oh I’m chuffed. That’s excellent [laughs]. Shouldn’t be so excited should I? But I am.

Children Of Earth was a huge success last year, critically and commercially. Did it feel like you were making something different to the old Torchwood?

The answer is: completely. It was a completely different programme. We were using just one director [Euros Lyn] and we’d lost half the cast, so we really had to pull together. And we had one story, rather than 13, so it seemed like a much tighter show. Obviously we were a bit apprehensive, because the number of episodes had been cut, but it was re-launching itself on BBC1. It needed to make an impact. And it was the best thing they could have done. You had a real feeling that every night at 9 o’clock people were sitting down to watch it. It was a real event.

I recently came across a video of a BBC Wales one-off comedy that starred Jason Hughes, Brian Hibbard and Eve Myles. This was originally shown back in 1999, which would mean Eve was around 21 years of age at the time it was taped. While not a huge role for Eve, her performance in “Hang the DJ” does show that she was (and still is) fully capable of pulling off a comedy bit with ease.

This may seem a bit rough for some, but I got some good laughs from it. This was a stepping stone for Eve because she was clearly on a path to stardom in those early days.

Here’s the video in its entirety from the video site Veoh.

Watch has teamed up with Titan comics, producers of the regular Torchwood strip in the official Torchwood magazine and created a must see for all true fans. Celebrated comic artist Brian Williamson (Marvel, Dark Horse, 2000AD, Titan & Tundra) and Doctor Who story writer Oli Smith (2010 Doctor Who Storybook) join forces to save the day and the result is an exclusive and explosive Torchwood strip.

Huge news for sci-fi fans: Fox is developing a stateside version of the U.K. hit series “Torchwood.”

The project is from BBC Worldwide Prods., with original series creator Russell Davies writing the script.

A more straight-faced spinoff of “Doctor Who,” “Torchwood” is about a covert group that investigates and fights alien activity. Two series aired domestically on BBC America as well as last year’s well reviewed stand-alone miniseries, “Children of Earth,” which broke all ratings records for the network.

Unlike U.S. adaptations that have gone awry, “Torchwood” fans can take comfort that the original producing team is on board. In addition to Davies, exec producers include Davies’ producing partner Julie Gardner (former head of drama at BBC Wales for the show’s first season) and Jane Tranter (another BBC vet, now exec vp programming and production at BBC Worldwide Prods. in the U.S.).

Also, some of the current cast — most likely John Barrowman, who plays the immortal Capt. Jack Harkness — might star if Fox orders “Torchwood” to pilot.

As for the new show’s plot, the U.S. version will contain a global story line compared to the more localized sensibility of the first two BBC seasons.

Tranter might try to reboot “Doctor Who” for U.S. audiences while departing “Doctor Who” star David Tennant stars in NBC’s pilot “Rex Is Not Your Lawyer.” “Torchwood” (which is an anagram of “Doctor Who”) debuted in 2006 on BBC 3 and set ratings records, then was moved to BBC 1. Russell also reinvented “Doctor Who” in 2003 and was writer-creator of the series “Queer as Folk.”

There’s been no confirmation that Eve Myles will be starring in this, but we’ll let you know as soon as we find out. — Brian

TORCHWOOD star Eve Myles is relishing her most demanding role yet – as proud mum to baby daughter Matilda.

The Ystradgynlais actress gave birth to 6lb 1oz Matilda at Cardiff’s University Hospital of Wales last month and said she and partner Brad Freegard are “completely over the moon.”

Eve, 31, said: “She is absolutely beautiful and we are obviously totally delighted. She is just the loveliest thing ever.

“Her full name is Matilda Myles Freegard. We’ve wanted a baby for a long time and have had names ready for a boy and a girl for the last three years. I just think it’s very pretty and it really suits her.

“She has beautiful deep blue eyes like her daddy and the longest fingers I’ve ever seen. And she has my huge lips. I was looking at her gums and trying to work out whether there is going to be a gap in her teeth, like mine. I hope so.

“We are just completely in love with her. She is totally, totally amazing.”

And Eve said Matilda, who was born on November 10, has already received goodies and well-wishes from Torchwood fans all over the world, as far as Australia.

Eve said: “I can’t believe how kind people have been. It’s unbelievable. We’ve had gifts for the baby and for me, it’s been so emotional. Our dining room is packed with baby-related things, and scripts that have been sent over the last few weeks that I just haven’t got round to reading.

“To be honest, I’m in no rush to think about work. I’m just enjoying her so much. Brad has been amazing. He’s very hands-on. He took the two weeks before her birth off so that he could be around when she arrived and she was almost on cue.

“It was a very long labour and I’m not going to pretend it was easy because it certainly wasn’t. But it was a natural birth and she was definitely worth it.

“The midwives at UHW were absolutely brilliant, I can’t fault them. Brad and I popped in with the baby to say thank you and took them lots of tea, coffee and treats because they were just so brilliant.”

And Matilda, who has yet to meet her mum’s co-star John Barrowman, is also a hit with the couple’s dog Honey.

Eve said: “We’ve obviously been really careful about letting Honey too close to Matilda but every day she will come over, look into the Moses basket, wag her tail and walk off. She’s always been really placid anyway but we’ve been for lovely walks and she seems very happy with the new arrival.”

Eve, who has been with Brad for almost a decade, said she is relishing the life-changing demands of motherhood and will not worry about work for a while.

She said: “I’m just enjoying every minute, even between 10.30pm and 1.30am when she decides to get the screaming ab dabs. Matilda’s already been to Pontcanna Fields and Dyffryn Gardens but, most importantly, she’s also had her first trip to Marks and Spencer. It’s amazing, motherhood is just great.”

Russell T. Davies has confirmed that a fourth series of Torchwood is in the works.

Speaking to TV Guide Magazine, the show’s creator revealed that he is hoping to get started on the new run in January 2010.

“The recession has hit British television, but fingers crossed, it will be a go,” he stated. “We expect things to start to move in January.

“We’ve got great ideas for the show. I think there’s a further lease on life for many years to come, but certainly for a [fourth season].”

Davies previously said of a possible fourth series: “I could write you scene one of series four right now. I know exactly how to pick it up.

“I’ve got a shape in mind, and I’ve got stories. I know where you’d find Gwen and Rhys, and their baby, and Jack, and I know how you’d go forward with a new form of Torchwood.”

Torchwood: Children Of Earth ended its run on BBC One with a respectable 5.81 million viewers in July this year.

Thanks to forum member Pantobabe for this great news! The information comes from John Barrowman’s manager Gavin Barker and I can only assume it is 100% legit.

Congratulations to Eve and Bradley from all of us at EveMyles.net!
