Digital Spy has discovered some juicy information on the fourth series of Torchwood and it reveals some interesting details on a new character, Captain Jack Harkness, and Gwen, played by our beloved actress Eve Myles.

More details have emerged about the fourth series of sci-fi drama Torchwood.

Starz has announced that The New World will follow CIA agent Rex Matheson as he “investigates a global conspiracy [and] finds himself unearthing a threat which challenges the entire human race”.

Rex is described as a Harvard-educated “golden boy” who is “dangerous, dazzling [and] reckless”.

The new ten-part series of the Doctor Who spinoff will also see the return of regular Torchwood characters Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman) and Gwen Cooper (Eve Myles).

    That sounds… er, I don’t know how to put it into words yet.
    Anwen=worst baby name ever.
    Jack’s “unannounced love for Gwen”? Three series too late, pal.
    And they decide to put this in after she’s been married?
    What, is it the slogan of RTD like, “Cheat on your significant other”?

      Looking up the name ‘Anwen’ says that it’s a female name, it’s Welsh, and the meaning is ‘very beautiful.’ At least RTD kept it real.

      I guess cheating on your significant other makes for good drama, but we don’t know how far it will go. It’s possible that Gwen will leave Rhys for Jack at the end of the series, and then if there is a fifth series she may leave Jack and go back to Rhys. Another scenario could be that she turns Jack down (knowing it’s wrong), but we don’t see it coming until the very end. Then there’s the dreaded “kill another character off of the show” scenario where Rhys would die and Gwen is left all alone with the baby. If that happens, who do you think she’ll turn to for help?
