BBC News recently did an interview with Russell T. Davies, creator and writer of both Doctor Who (new series) and Torchwood. This comes on the heels of the announcement a few days ago that BBC Cymru Wales, BBC Worldwide and Starz Entertainment will be co-producing the next series of Torchwood.
Here’s the video clip of that interview, but after watching it you’ll learn very little of the next series of Torchwood. Apparently RTD doesn’t want to spoil us this early in the development cycle.
Torchwood Series 4 is set to air in the summer of 2011 and, according to the Torchwood Wikipedia page, both John Barrowman and Eve Myles are set to return to play their recurring roles. The new series has been brought down from the reported 13 episodes to just 10, and the storylines will take place in different locations around the world.
I’m really glad that RTD and his crew got a major U.S. cable TV network to help get the next series of Torchwood off the ground. Fans were getting worried that there may not be another series, so this should end all of the speculation that’s been going around the web.
Now we can all sleep better at night. : )
i’m about gutted that there is going to be americans in it, i wish it was a welsh jsut like it waas before apart from barrowman, and this around the world thing i aint a fan off, just cardiff!! thats what i loved about it and i think the majority of viewers did too but im just glad there is going to be another series of torchwood with eve in it!! :D x
What about Eve?! Russell didn’t even bother mentioning her!! And what’s with the travelling? I <3 the Cardiff setting, and please no American cast!! That's gonna irritate the hell out of me, it will not be fun!! Ok rant over, at least there's definately going to be another series :D xxx

Hmm… he didn’t say that Eve was coming back… he only said ‘The Barrowman will be back, and a new American team’…. bad news, or just forgetting? :/
Yeah I noticed that he didn’t mention Eve but it does say in the headline captions that “Eve Myles continues in role of Gwen”. Maybe just an oversight from him as majority of viewers mainly concerned about Barrowman I reckon. RTD said it would still mostly be filmed in Wales so I don’t see why she wouldn’t come back unless for a major personal reason. She is vital to ‘torchwood’ as John just not as high profile.
