Torchwood Series 4 ‘in the works’

Charlie 13. November 2009 19

Russell T. Davies has confirmed that a fourth series of Torchwood is in the works.

Speaking to TV Guide Magazine, the show’s creator revealed that he is hoping to get started on the new run in January 2010.

The recession has hit British television, but fingers crossed, it will be a go. We expect things to start to move in January. We’ve got great ideas for the show. I think there’s a further lease on life for many years to come, but certainly for a [fourth season].

Davies previously said of a possible fourth series: “I could write you scene one of series four right now. I know exactly how to pick it up.

I’ve got a shape in mind, and I’ve got stories. I know where you’d find Gwen and Rhys, and their baby, and Jack, and I know how you’d go forward with a new form of Torchwood.

Torchwood: Children Of Earth ended its run on BBC One with a respectable 5.81 million viewers in July this year.

Dear God, no. I dread to think what the Fox people would do to Torchwood! US remakes of British series have been without exception shallow, glossy, eviscerated travesties of the originals. They are so in thrall to sponsors and advertisers, not to mention the dead hand of positively 19th-century censorship, that they produce lacklustre, unchallenging brain-candy. That’s the joy of the beeb – no adverts means no-one to pander to, which is why only the beeb could make a programme like Torchwood. This is not a show for kids and it should stay that way.

Our entire household is glued to the set,m watching “Children of Earth”. Episode 4 just concluded: Ianto is dead. *aaaarghhh!*

We look forward top Series 4 of “Torchwood” – this is one of the best things to come of out British tv for yonks!

As for letting the Americans ‘reboot’ “Torchwood” – no feckin’ way!! Our American cuzzies are hopeless at this sort of thing. They should be content with the original version.

After all, no one tried to ‘reboot’ their precious “Star Trek”, eh??

What is all this talk about an American reboot, then? Just rumors?

No, it’s not a rumor. See this post for details: Fox developing U.S. version of Torchwood

The last thing I read about it was that they were doing casting calls. At this point nothing is set in stone.

Oh I’m so glad its back [or at least being considered about coming back] – I hope Jack comes back and that he mangaes to find someone else like Ianto – I’ve been wondering what Gwena dn Rhys would name their baby! It’d be cool if it was named after one of those who died [Ianot, Owen or Tosh]

OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD!….. I am sooo excited to hear this news!…I CAN’T WAIT!!!!

Yeah, i agree that Torchwood would be a lot better again if it was written as the 13 episodes, and shown once a week. MORE OF IT! :D I feel it is better that way also because you get a range of new and exciting storylines, which holds the viewers intrest much more. I also think Torchwood was much better in series one, it seemed a lot darker, mysterious and adult. There were some episodes younger viewers were unable to see because of it’s content. In addition, i feel that series one left me on the edge of my seat and glued to the screen much, much more. I really miss that! :(

I’m sooo glad to hear of this news, and i can’t wait! RTD get writting, ha ha!

…Now when should i organise my trip to Caerdydd! Ha ha!
