Flat Holm Island

I recently found this picture of Eve (love her smile) that was taken during the filming of the episode “Adrift” from season 2 of Torchwood.

This picture was grabbed from the Cardiff Waterbus Web site from their Corporate Charter page. It’s interesting to see that the boats are yellow in color, whereas the boat they used in “Adrift” was white. Hmm. Well, they recently painted all of their boats yellow, so this would explain it.

The lighthouse we saw in the episode dates back to 1737 and originally used a coal-fired brazier to light it. Over the years it went from using oil to electricity, and more recently, solar power.

Nice pics. All the years I’ve lived in Cardiff I’ve never been to Flat Holm, lol. I’ve always planned to, and have been right by it on boat trips many times, but never landed on it. The boat used in Torchwood, that Gwen went across to the island on, is a real Cardiff boat that one of my friends used to go fishing on, lol. The yellow speed boats that go across to the island are more like large motorised rubber dingies! Lol, well that’s what they look like anyway. As for the Cardiff Cats Waterbus service, those boats are usually always yellow.

I love the first pic, with Eve on the island. You can see Brean Down peninsula jutting out in the background. That’s one of my favourite places to walk along, so beautiful, with incredible views. :)

And how cute is that last pic? I love seagulls! :D
